James Wood cheerleading wins district

WINCHESTER- The James Wood cheerleading team earned a regular season title and an automatic Region II berth with a second-place finish at the Northwestern District mini No. 2 hosted in its own gym Wednesday evening.

Sherando took first-place honors at the mini but the Colonels clinched the regular season championship by virtue of their first-place showing at the mini No. 1 and their second-place finish Wednesday.

Millbrook finished third, Skyline took fourth and Handley came in fifth.

The Northwestern District Championship will be held on at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at Sherando.
