WOOD’S HAWKINS TAKES 8TH AT OATLANDS

LEESBURG — James Wood senior Amber Hawkins led area runners by placing eighth in the A race at the Oatlands Invitational on Saturday.

Hawkins finished with a time of 19 minutes, 57 seconds, helping James Wood finish 31st out of 38 teams.

Brittany Arnold (163rd, 22:54), Molly Farinholt (173rd, 23:02), Madeline Long (179th, 23:07), and Halle Esparza (232nd, 25:35) rounded out the Colonels’ team scoring. James Wood was the only area girls’ team to compete in the A race that was won by Osbourn Park.

In the boys’ A race, Handley led the way in 26th place (out of 51 teams). Freshman Aaron Arslan led the Judges in 83rd place with a time of 17:46. Jim Thomson (104th, 17:59), Noah Vogler (144th, 18:27), Cole Talton (179th, 18:38) and Jared Burns (214th, 18:52) completed the Judges’ scoring five.

James Wood senior Danny Aldstadt paced area runners by taking 37th (17:09), leading the Colonels to 33rd place. Luke Farinholt (84th, 17:47), Patrick Wilson (189th, 18:41), Mark Bohler (204th, 18:48) and Andrew Shade (271st, 19:21) completed the Colonels’ team scoring.

Sherando senior James Reese finished 108th (18:04) to pace the Warriors in 43rd place. Chantilly won the boys A race.
