GIRLS’ CROSS COUNTRY - Colonels capture district mini

WINCHESTER — James Wood scored 24 points to win by 30 points at the second Northwestern District mini on Wednesday at the Third Battle of Winchester course.

Skyline was second with 54, Sherando was third with 73, Handley was fourth with 83 and Millbrook did not have a team score.

Mackenzie Conyar led the Colonels by taking second overall in 20:30, 26 seconds behind Skyline’s Carrie Hotek. Also scoring for the Colonels was Autumn Hottle (third in 20:39), Haley Witt (fifth in 20:54), Maria Harter (sixth in 21:00) and Abbey Esparza (eighth in 21:49).

The Colonels also had three runners sweep ninth through 11th — Sophia Dorsey (21:52), Lydia Sunderlin (21:53) and Kendall Pierce (22:28). Lauren Chamberlain was 15th in 23:07 and Katie Sunderlin wwas 19th in 23:23.

Sherando was led by Gillian Liedke (seventh in 21:42), Courtney Sirovy (12th in 22:33) and Emily Petsko (16th in 23:11).

Handley was led by Kaia Franklin (13th in 22:59) and Lillian Smith (14th in 23:04) and Millbrook was led by Katie Borland (18th in 23:22) and Ava Derrick (20th in 23:28).
