CROSS COUNTRY - Konyar takes 5th at Knights Crossing

SALEM — James Wood sophomore Kenzie Konyar placed fifth overall with a time of 18 minutes, 41 seconds at the Knights Crossing Invitational on Saturday.

Konyar paced the Colonels to 10th place in the 31-team girls’ race. Haley Witt (43rd, 20:51), Kendall Pierce (101st, 22:06), Audrey Sandy (112th, 22:17) and Abbey Esparza (146th, 23:04) completed Wood’s top five on the 3.1-mile course.

Millbrook, led by Maddie Lloyd (25th, 20:03) placed seventh with 249 points. The rest of the Pioneers’ scoring five included Kaycee Cox-Philyaw (33rd, 20:23), Shannon Mulvaney (54th, 21:08), Joanne Keenan (67th, 21:22) and Emily Muldowney (80th, 21:42).

Blacksburg, led by overall winner Ailene Edwards (17:54), won the team title with 28 points. Milton (88), Western Albemarle (136), Oakton (147) and Jefferson Forest (165) completed the top five.
