CROSS COUNTRY - Konyars pace James Wood

THE PLAINS — James Wood sophomore Kenzie Konyar finished fourth overall at the Octoberfest Invitational on the non-state course at Great Meadow on Saturday.

Konyar finished the 3.1-mile course with a time of 18 minutes, 40 seconds to lead the Colonels to 19th place (with 546 points) out of 36 girls’ teams.

West Springfield (110) won the girls’ race. James W. Robinson (149) and Chantilly (178) rounded out the top three. Fauquier followed in fourth. Annandale freshman Julie Ghiselli won the girls’ race in 17:43.

Kevin Konyar, who finished 29th (16:43) out of 365 runners, paced James Wood to 14th place in the 41-team boys’ race. Deep Run (82), Ocean Lakes (127) and Glen Allen (167) took the top three spots.

Ocean Lakes senior Brent Bailey won the boys’ race in 15:20.
