Wood boys and girls sweep

Winchester — The James Wood boys’ cross country team took the top four spots, as the Colonels comfortably swept visiting Martinsburg (W.Va.) and Hedgesville (W.Va.) on Wednesday.

David Pugh (18:07), Cody Wright (18:55), Danny Aldstadt (19:27) and Blake Armstrong (19:38) led the way for Wood, whicle teammate Nick Stasiak (19:57) finished sixth overall.

The Colonels beat Martinsburg 15-47 and Hedgesville 16-42.

For the girls, James Wood defeated Marinsburg 20-40 and Hedgesville 23-38.

The Colonels’ Samantha Ratcliffe finished third overall (23:08) with Whitney Dennis fourth (23:30), Lauryl Andrus sixth (24:34), Brooke Krossman seventh (24:39) and Erin Gardner eighth (24:49).
