District Golf Mini

WARRENTON — Kettle Run clinched the Northwestern District regular season title and a Class 4C regional playoff berth with a dominating team win on Monday at the district mini at Fauquier Springs Golf Club.

Sherando’s Brandon Nice was the top local individual, placing third with a 77. Handley’s Madi Neff and James Wood’s Jacob Karen tied for seventh with rounds of 83.

Inclement weather prevented at least one golfer from each of the six-player teams from finishing. Multiple teams had just four players complete their rounds.

Kettle Run cruised in the seven-team event, with four of its five finishing players shooting 80 or lower for a 308 total. The Cougars’ Jacob Rader was the event’s medalist with a 73, three strokes better than teammate Reece Massi (76).

Fauquier was a distant second (341), while Sherando (356) took third. Handley and James Wood tied for fourth with 364 and was followed by Liberty (402) and Millbrook (406).

Cody Williams shot 85 for Handley, which had just four players finish. Jackson Lynch had an 88 and Cameron Baker posted a 91 for the Colonels, who had five finishers.

Caleb Dotson (89) and Parker Gregg (91) joined Nice as top scorers for the Warriors, who had just four finishers. Tyler McGuire (95) was the lone Millbrook golfer to break 100 as the Pioneers had four finishers.
