Golf Tri Match

Front Royal- Sherando senior Kolby Madigan picked a good time to fire a career best.

Competing against James Wood and Martinsburg (W.Va.) in a tri match at the Shenandoah Valley Golf Club Wednesday, Madigan posted a 4-under 32 to lead the Warriors to a victory.

Playing the par-36 Red Nine course, Madigan birdied both par 5's and both par 3's, and parred all five par 4's to help Sherando (1-0) to a 150, besting James Wood (158) and Martinsburg (200).

"Kolby was on fire today," said Sherando head coach Rob Wright.

Madigan was followed by teammates Chris Slater and Cameron Wiseman, who each tallied scores of 39, and senior Cory Hammons capped the scoring with a 40.

The Colonels (1-1) were led by senior Kyle Hevner's 38 and junior Russell Repasky's 39. Sophomore Will Holmes added a 40 and senior Alex Spalding posted a 41 on the day.

Blake Hall and Colin Banks led the way for Martinsburg with scores of 48 each.
