BOYS’ TENNIS - Dokken advance in Conference 21 singles

 

STERLING — James Wood No. 3 seed Evan Dokken defeated Shernado No. 6 Ben Hulver in straight sets in the Conference 21 singles quarterfinals at Park View on Tuesday.

Dokken won 6-1, 6-3 and will now face Loudoun County No. 2 seed Brad Hinchberger in today’s semifinal round.

Millbrook No. 4 seed Hayden Wilfong defeated Heritage’s Alex Whitehouse 6-2, 6-1 in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. Wilfong will now face Dominion top-seed Slade Dumes in today’s semifinal at 2 p.m.

In doubles, Wilfong and Zack Clark, seeded sixth, rallied for a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 upset victory over James Wood’s No. 3 seed doubles team of Dokken and Noah Borromeo.

Sherando’s No. 5 team of Ben Hulver and Cameron Spieles won in straight sets 7-5, 7-6 over Heritage’s fourth-seeded doubles team.

Hulver and Spieles now face Dominion’s top-seeded team in today’s semifinal round at 4 p.m. Wilfong and Clark face Loudoun County’s No. 2-seeded team in today’s semifinals.
