WINCHESTER — James Wood dropped its Class 4 Northwestern District opener to Kettle Run on Wednesday.
The Colonels (0-2) trailed 1-0 at the half and fell behind 2-0, but they twice rallied to within one goal. Abby Duck scored on a direct kick to make it 2-1 Kettle Run, and Katie Padgett scored off a corner kick to make it 3-2 Cougars.
Kettle Run had an 18-14 shot advantage. Sadie Kerns made 11 saves for James Wood.
