GIRLS’ TENNIS: Colonels 6, Pioneers 3

WINCHESTER — James Wood swept all three doubles matches to clinch a win over James Wood in Thursday’s Northwestern District girls’ tennis match.

Fae Schweitzer and Ashley Hillyard teamed for a 10-5 win over Millbrook’s Jenny Beasley and Saelyen Kim at No. 1 doubles. The Colonels No. 2 doubles team of Kelsey Nicely and Alaina Cooper beat Millbrook’s Ifeanyi Coates and Kylie Nordin 10-4, and Wood’s No. 3 doubles team of Katie Schott and Kaitlyn Vadell defeated the Pioneers’ Sarah Duvall and Holly Stevens 10-4.

Nicely (No. 2, 10-8), Hillyard (No. 3, 10-3) and Cooper (No. 5, 10-5) all won in singles for Wood.

Beasley edged Schweitzer 11-10 (7-2) at No. 1 singles, and Nordin (No. 4, 10-5) and Anna Cebrynski (No. 6, 10-7) also won in singles for the Pioneers.
