SOFTBALL: Colonels 12, Pioneers 2

WINCHESTER — Morgan Sykes, Kierstyn Peacoe and Charlotte Viands each went 3 for 3 in a 12-hit night as James Wood won a Northwestern District contest with Millbrook Tuesday that was shortened to five innings because of the mercy rule.

Sykes had a triple, walk, two runs and two RBIs; Peacoe had two runs, two RBIs, two doubles and a walk; and Viands had three RBIs. Peacoe picked up the win with a complete-game four-hitter. She allowed two walks and struck out six.

For Millbrook (5-9, 3-4), Sydney Barr had a double and a run, Sarah Clark had a triple and an RBI, and Megan Atlee had a hit and a run.
