Colonels Rout Hampshire In Softball, 12-1

ROMNEY, W.VA. — James Wood opened the season with a 12-1 softball victory over Hampshire County (W.Va.) that was called after three innings because of the mercy rule on Thursday night.

Lani Spielman went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Alyssa Brown went 2 for 2 and drove in a run to lead the Colonels. James Wood’s Taylor Woolsey went 2 for 2, and Courteney Harper and Lindsey Anderson each had three RBIs.

Spielman got the victory in the circle, allowing one run while striking out three.
