James Wood softball knocked off in Region 4C semis

LEESBURG — Riverside scored all eight of its runs in the first three innings in defeating the James Wood softball team 8-3 on Tuesday in the Region 4C semifinals.

The Rams (20-3) scored five runs in the third inning against James Wood’s Ivy Rosenberry, who only gave up one earned run in her complete-game effort. James Wood (16-6) committed six errors in its final game of the year. Rosenberry allowed four hits, three walks and struck out two batters.

Riverside’s Annika Dunn held James Wood to three runs despite allowing 10 hits and one walk. She struck out five batters. James Wood scored three runs in the fifth but left two runners on in the third and seventh innings, and had a runner thrown out at the plate in the first inning.
