WINCHESTER- Charlotte Viands drove in four runs and Morgan Baker scored four times as visiting James Wood beat Millbrook in a Northwestern District game shortened to five innings because of the mercy rule.

Viands and Baker were each 2 for 3. Erin McCarthy went 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs, and Kierstyn Peacoe went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Colonels (12-4-1, 4-2).

Peacoe (10-3) pitched four innings, allowing one earned run on three hits with seven strikeouts. With those, the freshman raised her strikeout total to 143, breaking the single-season school record of 141 set by Natalie Burns in 2007.

Kaitlyn Hendershot doubled to drive in Megan Atlee with the lone run for Millbrook (2-14, 1-6).
