TRACK AND FIELD: Sherando sweeps Wood

STEPHENS CITY- The Sherando boys won 87-45 and the girls won 84-47 in a Northwestern District dual meet Tuesday.

Those who won multiple events for the Sherando boys were Devon Newman (long jump with a mark of 21 feet, 7 inches, triple jump in 40-2, 400 meters in 53.55 seconds) and Josh Ramos (100 in 12.11 seconds, 200 in 24.37).

The James Wood boys were led by Cody Wright, who won the 800 in 2:04.13 and the 1,600 in 4:42.19.

The Sherando girls were led by Candice Banks, who took the 100 hurdles in 17.76, the 300 hurdles in 52.59, and the triple jump in 29-2. Alaina Combs won the shot put (34-4) and the discus (84-7).

The James Wood girls were paced by Taje Usher (first in the 100 in 14.00 and first in the 200 in 28.95) and Madeline Long (first in the 1,600 in 5:55.71 and first in the 3,200 in 12:38.38).
