Warriors Sweep Wood In Track

WINCHESTER — The Sherando boys’ and girls’ track and field teams each beat James Wood by identical 78-54 scores Wednesday at James Wood.

The Sherando boys were led by Chris Smith, who won three individual events. Smith took the long jump with a mark of 19 feet, 4 inches, the high jump (6-0) and the 400 meters (55.58 seconds.)

The Warrior girls had two double winners — Laurel Morton (triple jump, 31-6, high jump, 4-10) and Candice Banks (100 hurdles in 17.07, 300 hurdles in 41.52).

The James Wood boys were led by double-winners Logan Shiffler (shot put, 42-2, discus, 119-1), Owen Bales (110 hurdles, 15.51, 300 hurdles, 42.60), and Danny Alstadt (1,600, 4:44.61, 3,200, 10:05.91).

For the James Wood girls, Amber Hawkins was the lone person to win two individual events. She took the 800 in 2:35.14 and the 1,600 in 5:30.75.
