Rosso leads Colonels at Dickinson Invitational

CARLISLE, Pa. — Rene Rosso won a pair of events and placed third in another to lead the James Wood girls to a sixth-place finish at the Dickinson College Invitational on Saturday.

The Colonels earned 30 points in the event, which featured 25 girls’ teams that scored. Cumberland Valley won with 61 points.

Rosso dominated in the 55-meter hurdles final. Her time of 8.73 seconds beat the second-place finisher by 0.6 seconds. Rosso also cleared 5-0 to win the high jump and ran 28.74 to take third in the 200.

Brooke Sandy cleared 4-6 to place seventh in the high jump and Mazie Clark threw 30-21/2 to finish seventh in the shot put.

In boys’ competition, James Wood finished 10th among 23 teams with 18 points. St. George’s Tech won with 74.

Drake Tews led the Colonels by clearing 5-8 to finish third in the high jump. Teammates Joseph Spielman (5-2) and Logan Owens (5-0) were eighth and ninth, respectively in the high jump. Dominic Revetta was sixth (41-81/4) was sixth in the shot put. Jackson Clyburn grabbed 10th in the 400.
