TRACK & FIELD

WINCHESTER- The James Wood High School boys' track team defeated Sherando and Washington (W.Va.) in a home meet Wednesday.

The Colonels finished with 67 points, while the Warriors scored 46 and the Patriots had 42.

Cody Wright won the 800-meter and 1,600-meter races, and Mason Smith took first in the 200 and the 300 hurdles to lead James Wood. The Colonels also got individual wins from Jacob Sunderlin (3,200), Ben Jenkins (110 hurdles), Sawyer Michelitch (long jump) and Chase Tyler (discus). Sherando got victories from Devon Newman (high jump) and Travis Ritter (shot put).

Sherando won the girls' competition with a team score of 67. (James Wood scored 51 and Washington 58.)

Lauren Wilkins won the long jump and triple jump to lead the Warriors, who also got individual victories from Krista DeCeault (1,600), Candice Banks (100 hurdles), and Maddy Morris (discus).

Wood got two wins from Laura Seymour (300 hurdles, high jump) and individual victories from Amber Hawkins (800) and Samantha Ratcliffe (3,200).

Eagles sweep Mustangs
FALLS CHURCH- Clarke County swept host George Mason in Wednesday's Bull Run District dual meet.

The Eagles' boys won 86-38, and Clarke's girls won 87-46. No individual results were reported.

BOYS' TENNIS

WINCHESTER- Handley dropped a total of just eight games in a home sweep of Northwestern District opponent Skyline on Wednesday.

From one through six, Daniel Park, Taylor Watts, Mark Sfeir, Matt Drunagel, William Truban and Hamilton Merrill were victorious in singles for the Judges.

Watts and Merrill each won by a 10-0 score, as did the No. 3 doubles team of Watts and Sfeir.
