All-Area Girls’ Basketball Team

Lauren Reed — Millbrook — Junior — Guard
Was named the Conference 21 Player of Year. A first team All-Group 4A, All-4A North Region, All-Conference 21 and All-Northwestern District selection, Reed averaged an area best 18.34 points per game but also showed her all-around skills with 3.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.3 steals. She connected on 67 3-pointers (shooting 39 percent) and shot 78 percent from the free-throw line. Reed is The Winchester Star’s Girls’ Basketball Player of the Year for the second time (2013).

Jess Hakel — Sherando — Senior — Guard
A first team All-Northwestern District and second team All-Conference 21 selection, Hakel averaged 13.1 points, a team-best 7.1 rebounds, a team-high 3.7 assists and 2.8 steals. She also shot 77 percent from the free-throw line (78 for 101).

Keiana Brooks — James Wood — Junior — Guard
Leading the area in both assists (5.8) and steals (5.4), Brooks averaged 15.3 points and was named the Northwestern District Co-Player of the Year. She earned first team All-Conference 21 honors and All-4A North Region honorable mention. Her 6.0 rebounds ranked second on her team and she shot 71 percent from the free-throw line.

Heidi Brown — Sherando — Senior — Forward
Named the Northwestern District Co-Player of the Year, Brown led Sherando averaging 18.33 points. She also averaged 4.7 rebounds, 2.4 steals, 2.4 blocks and made a team-high 40 3-pointers. She also earned first team All-Conference 21 honors and second team All-4A North Region.

Sydney Chrane — Clarke — Senior — Forward
Showing a strong inside game and the ability to knock down mid-range shots, Chrane averaged 15.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.1 assists and 1.5 blocks. She was named the 2A East Region and Bull Run District Player of the Year and also earned first team All-Group 2A honors. She will play at Division II Harding University (Ark.) next year.

Anna Blue Catlett — Clarke — Senior — Forward
A first team All-Bull Run District, All-2A East Region and All-Group 2A state selection, Catlett led the Eagles in scoring, averaging 15.4 points. She also averaged 2.7 steals and shot 36.2 percent from 3-point range and 70 percent from the free-throw line. Catlett will also play at Division-II Harding University (Ark.) next year.

Angelica Robinson — Handley — Junior — Forward
Earning first team All-Conference 23 and All-Northwestern District honors, Robinson averaged 16.8 points and led the area with 11.8 rebounds per game. She also averaged three blocks per game, leading the area among public school players. Robinson also earned second team All-4A North Region honors.
