GIRLS’ INDOOR TRACK

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Millbrook placed third with 58 points at the 12-team Region 4C meet on Friday, finishing only behind Loudoun Valley (118) and Fauquier (70).

Handley was fourth with 41 points, Sherando was sixth with 33 and James Wood was seventh with 29.

Sherando’s Haley Mack was the only local athlete to take two events, winning the long jump (17-0) and 55 hurdles (7.68).

The top three individuals and top three relays in each event as well as those meeting state-qualifying standards advanced to the Class 4 state meet on Feb. 22 and 23 at Roanoke College.

Millbrook: Ava Derrick, 1st, triple jump, 33-5½; Kaycee Cox-Philyaw, 1st, 1,000, 3:06.51; Sarah Purdy, 2nd, 55 hurdles, 9.49, 3rd, long jump, 16-2½; Keona Robinson, 3rd, triple jump, 31-0.5.

Handley: Mary McKay, 1st, pole vault, 9-0; Alexis Grady, 2nd, pole vault, 8-0; Ashlea McConnell, 3rd, shot put, 31-8; 4x200 (Mikayla Balio, Brittnay Turner, Sofia Posadas, McKay), 3rd, 1:56.86;

Sherando: Kaitlyn Roberts, 3rd, 300, 44.88.

James Wood: Brooke Sandy, 1st, high jump, 4-10; Audrey Sandy, 3rd, high jump, 4-8; Kenzie Konyar, 3rd, 3,200, 11:53.89.
