Rosso helps Mount St. Mary's win NEC indoor track meet

NEW YORK — Freshman Rene Rosso, a James Wood High School graduate, took fourth place in the high jump to help NCAA Division I Mount St. Mary’s University capture the Northeast Conference women’s track & field meet for the first time in 22 years on Saturday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

Rosso recorded a mark of 5 feet, 4.5 inches for the top mark on the team. She finished 2.5 inches behind Long Island University’s Angeli Andre.

Mount St. Mary’s won the 10-team meet with 138 points, 33 more than St. Francis.

Rosso has won the NEC Indoor Rookie of the Week honors three times year. Among all meets this winter, Rosso ranks fourth in the NEC in the high jump (5-4.5), seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (9.10 seconds) and 17th in the long jump (17-1.5).
