James Wood Swimming Sweeps Eagles

WINCHESTER — The James Wood girls won 110-58 and the boys won 97-69 in a non-district dual swim meet with Clarke County Saturday.

The James Wood girls had three swimmers win two individual events. Sara Fergus won the 200-meter freestyle in 2 minutes, 38.56 seconds and the 50 free in 31.25, Zoe Schopick won the 200 individual medley in 2:49.72 and the 100 butterfly in 1:12.31, and Abby Fergus won the 100 freestyle in 1:12.91 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:34.75.

Other Colonel individual winners were Laura Moss (400 freestyle in 5:53.90) and Erin Jackson (100 backstroke in 1:14.69).

In the boys’ meet, James Wood’s Bryan Baker won the 50 free in 26.11 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.48. Other Colonel individual winners were Conor Babington (100 butterfly in 1:06.88), Andew Wood (100 free in 1:07.18), Alec Hager (400 free in 6:21.14) and Luke Farinholt (200 free in 2:31.32).

The Clarke County boys were led by Matthew Nesslerodt, who won the 200 individual medley in 2:40.27 and the 100 backstroke in 1:13.88.
