SWIMMING: City-County Holiday Sprints

WINCHESTER — The Sherando boys won by 119 points and the girls won by 15 at the City-County Holiday Sprints on Wednesday at Jim Barnett Park’s War Memorial Building.

The Warrior boys scored 216 points. James Wood took second with 97, Millbrook was third with 96 and Handley was fourth with 72.

Sherando’s Daniel Milburn won the 100-meter freestyle in 1:05.04 and the 50 butterfly in 29.09, David Restrepo won the 25 free in 12.06 and the 50 free in 26.51, Hunter Mayo won the 50 backstroke in 32.70, Mathew Pham won the 50 breaststroke in 35.23, and the 100 medley relay (Mayo, Pham, Restrepo, Ski Thompson) in 1:00.34, 100 free relay (Thompson, Ridge Green, Heston Phillips, Pham) in 57.14 and 200 free relay (Restrepo, Ayman Ibrahim, Mayo, Milburn) in 1:49.78 were each victorious.

Millbrook’s Patrick Northrup (100 free in 58.01 and 200 free in 2:15.45) won the other two events.

The Warrior girls scored 157 points. Handley was second with 142, James Wood was third with 127 and Millbrook was fourth with 88.

Abigail Sears (50 breast in 37.16) was Sherando’s lone winner.

Handley received wins from Abby Keith in the 100 free (1:06.36) and 200 free (2:23.15), Linsey Martin in the 25 free (14.72), Kenzi Fergus in the 50 backstroke (34.67) and the 200 free relay (Meredith Watts, Meridith Larsen, Fergus, Keith) in 2:06.00.

James Wood received wins from Katie Sunderlin in the 50 butterfly (33.21) and the 100 free relay (Zoe Schopick, Katie Sunderlin, Hannah Cavanagh and Lydia Sunderlin) in 1:01.05, and Millbrook received wins from Abbey Esslinger (100 IM in 1:13.00) and 50 free (30.14) and its 100 medley relay team (Lindsay Fairbanks, Esslinger, Amanda Olejarz, Eliza Grigsby) in 1:08.53.
