SWIMMING - Warriors sweep Black & Blue meet

 
 

WINCHESTER — Peter Pham and Emma De Jong each won two individual events as Sherando swept the boys’ and girls’ titles at the eighth annual Black & Blue Invitational on Saturday at the Jim Barnett Park pool.

Sherando amassed 246 points to easily outdistance Harrisonburg (190) for the boys’ title in the six-team field. James Wood (138) was third. The Warriors (294) edged Harrisonburg (274) for the girls’ crown. James Wood (69) was fifth.

Pham had the only two individual wins for the Sherando boys, taking the 400-meter freestyle in 4:50.98 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.68.

Brian Hua took a pair of individual titles for the Colonels, winning the 100 backstroke (1:08.37) and the 200 individual medley (2:29.45). David Dorsey also captured the 200 freestyle (2:19.25).

De Jong was the only local winner in the girls’ meet. De Jong captured the 100 backstroke in 1:13.77 and the 400 freestyle in 5:06.03.
