Early surge leads Wood softball past Millbrook

WINCHESTER- The James Wood softball team scored seven runs in the first two innings and went on to a 12-4 Northwestern District victory over Millbrook Tuesday.

The Colonels (3-5, 2-0 Northwestern District) were led by Kierstyn Peacoe, who went 2 for 5 with two doubles, a run, and four RBIs at the plate; and went the distance in the circle, giving up two earned runs, four hits, five walks and striking out 10 batters to improve to 3-4.

James Wood was also led by Hayley Whitacre (2 for 3 with a walk and three runs), Rachael Largent (3 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs), and Charlotte Viands (2 for 5 with a double, a run and an RBI) in the team's 10-hit effort.

The Pioneers (3-5, 2-1) were led by Kaitlyn Hendershot (2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs). MacKenzi Steele (1-4) took the loss for Millbrook.
