Softball: Huskies 12, Colonels 2

LEESBURG — Tuscarora broke open a 3-2 game with nine runs in the fourth inning to win a mercy-rule shortened game over James Wood in a non-district season opener.

Kierstyn Peacoe was on a pitch count and did not pitch after the third inning for James Wood. She gave up four hits (one a three-run home run in the third), hit a batter, walked three and struck out two.

At the plate, Peacoe led off the game with a single, hit a solo home run in the third and drew an intentional walk in the fifth. Rachael Largent had a single and RBI.
