All-Area Softball First Team

Mackenzi Steele — Millbrook — Senior — Pitcher

Turning in the area’s best season inside the pitching circle, Steele, a first team All-Northwestern District and second team All-Conference 21 selection, led the area with a 12-1 record and an area-best 122 strikeouts. She finished with a 2.37 ERA and helped the Pioneers finish unbeaten (12-0) in the district. Steele also hit .365 with 16 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

Sarah Miller — Clarke County — Junior — Pitcher

Earning second team All-Bull Run District honors, Miller led Clarke in nearly all pitching categories. She led the Eagles with a 10-4 record (with one save) with 56 strikeouts and a 2.58 ERA. She also hit .352 with three doubles and eight RBIs.

Jessy Shipman — Sherando — Senior — Catcher

Leading the area in both hits (32) and batting average (.508), Shipman earned first team All-Northwestern District and second team All-Conference 21 honors. She tied with a team-high 30 RBIs and had two homers, a team-best in both doubles (eight) and triples (five) and ranked second on her team in both runs scored (25) and stolen bases (15).

Kierstyn Peacoe — James Wood — Senior — Infielder

A first team All-Northwestern District and second team All-Conference 21 selection, Peacoe led James Wood batting .445 with two home runs, 20 runs scored, 19 RBIs, and six doubles. She led the Colonels in on-base percentage (.606), slugging percentage (.721) and on-base percentage plus slugging percentage (1.327).

Michaela Carper — Sherando — Junior — Infielder

One of five Sherando players to hit over .400, Carper earned first team All-Northwestern District and second team All-Conference 21 honors. She hit .434 with 21 runs scored, 10 RBIs, five doubles, a triple and 11 stolen bases.

Hannah Lockhart — Millbrook — Junior — Infielder

With a great glove at shortstop and one of the best hitters in the area, Lockhart showed her all-around game and earned first team All-Northwestern District and All-Conference 21 honors. She batted .435 with 28 runs, 22 RBIs, nine stolen bases, seven doubles and two triples. She earned first team All-Northwestern District and All-Conference 21 honors.

Sarah Clark — Millbrook — Junior — Infielder

Clark’s offensive production gave her two-thirds of the triple crown (leading in batting average, home runs and RBIs) as she led the area in both RBIs (41) and home runs (nine). She ranked second in the area hitting .462 with a team-high 30 runs, six doubles, three triples and five stolen bases. A first team All-Northwestern District (and the Northwestern District Player of the Year), All-Conference 21 and 4A North Region selection, Clark is The Winchester Star’s Softball Player of the Year.

Carly Nixon — Sherando — Junior — Outfielder

A first team All-Northwestern District and second team All-Conference 21 selection, Nixon led the Warriors with 26 runs scored and 18 stolen bases. She hit .433 with two homers, three doubles, a triple and 13 RBIs. Her quickness also helped her anchor the Warriors’ outfield.

Katie Manson — Sherando — Junior — Outfielder

A transfer from Fauquier who provided a big boost to the Warriors’ lineup, Manson ranked second on her team (and in the area) with her .463 batting average. Her 30 RBIs equaled the team-high total of Shipman, and she had six doubles, a triple, one home run, five stolen bases and 19 runs scored. She earned first team All-Northwestern District and second team All-Conference 21 honors.

Kendall Benoit — Clarke County — Freshman — Outfielder

Providing a big boost to the Eagles’ lineup as the leadoff hitter, Benoit, a first team All-Bull Run District selection, led Clarke in batting average (.394), hits (28), stolen bases (20) and runs scored (27). She finished with eight RBIs, three triples and only struck out twice in 81 plate appearances.

Whitney Dick — James Wood — Senior — Utility

Earning second team All-Northwestern District honors, Dick ranked third on her team hitting .382 and tied for first with 24 runs scored. She also ranked second with 18 RBIs and had five doubles.

Heidi Brown — Sherando — Junior — Utility

Whether in the pitcher’s circle or playing first base, Brown filled two key spots for the Warriors this year. She earned second team All-Northwestern District honors as a pitcher, finishing with four wins and 57 strikeouts. She batted .403 with 21 runs scored, 20 RBIs, four doubles, two triples and six stolen bases.
