Pioneers get walk-off win

WINCHESTER — Amber Wells singled home Alexis LaBiche with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Millbrook High School softball team defeated visiting James Wood 6-5 Thursday night.

LaBiche (3 for 4, one stolen base, one RBI) singled and advanced to second on a single by Kait Hendershot to set up the winning run.

Stephanie Curry was also 3 for 4, stealing two bases and driving in one run.

Wells — who went 1 for 4 and had two RBIs — went the distance on the mound, allowing three earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts and no walks. She and the Pioneers improved their records to 9-8 (4-3 Northwestern).

Lauren Myers took the defeat for the Colonels (3-15, 1-5), giving up three earned runs on 13 hits with four strikeouts in her complete game. Morgan Baker went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, and Morgan Sykes went 2 for 4 with two runs and two stolen bases.
