WINCHESTER — Tre Porter hit two home runs to lead Sherando to a Northwestern District win over James Wood in a game shortened to five innings because of the mercy rule.
The Warriors (14-2, 8-1 Northwestern) scored two in the first, five in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Porter went 3 for 3 with four RBIs and a double, Jacob Carney went 4 for 4 with an RBI and a triple, and Darrell Thompson improved to 6-0 after allowing one hit and three walks while striking out eight in four innings.
For James Wood (6-9, 3-6), Dakota Orndorff, Russell Repasky and Andy Kennedy each went 1 for 2. Dan Malsch struck out one in 2innings.
