MECHANICSVILLE — James Wood placed 15th out of 62 teams in the “A” 12.5-kilometer race at the RVA Relays on Saturday at Pole Green Park.
The Colonels’ five runners — each of whom ran 2.5 kilometers — recorded a total time of 47 minutes and 29 seconds. Cherokee won in 44:40, while Grafton placed second in 44:49 and Sherando came in 51st with 52:36.
In the boys’ race, St. Johns prevented a sweep, defeating Cherokee by 11 seconds (37:20 to 37:31). Sherando placed 41st with 41:35 and James Wood placed 45th with 42:21 in a 63-team race.
