Seth Hammond, a 2021 James Wood High School graduate, recently completed a decorated NCAA Division I college soccer career with St. Bonaventure University in St. Bonaventure, New York.
A forward, Hammond played for the Bonnies as a graduate student this fall. Hammond started his career with Elon University (2021-22) in North Carolina and continued it with the University of North Carolina-Asheville (2023-24).
Hammond was selected to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team and was the only player to earn All-A-10 honors for St. Bonaventure, which went 3-9-3 overall and 1-5-2 in league play. Hammond is the first Bonnie to be named First Team All-Conference since 2013.
Hammond’s 21 points (seven goals, seven assists) tied for the A-10 lead. His seven goals tied for first in the league and his seven assists ranked second. Hammond’s 1.4 points per game is tied for 27th in the NCAA.
Hammond set a program record for single-game assists when he had four against No. 24 George Mason in a 6-5 defeat on Oct. 11. At the time, Hammond’s single-game assist total was tied for the most in any NCAA Division I game this year. Hammond — who also scored in that game — was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, the Under Armour Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, and selected to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week for that performance.
Hammond was also selected to the All-Atlantic 10 Academic Team. Hammond has a 3.73 GPA and is working toward his master’s degree in general business.
At UNC-Asheville of the Big South, Hammond appeared in 33 games and made 30 starts over two seasons. Hammond helped the Bulldogs to their first back-to-back winning seasons in program history and to the Big South Conference final in 2023. Hammond was second on the team in 2024 with 10 points on four goals and two assists and was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
At Elon of the Coastal Athletic Association, Hammond played in six games in 2021 and one in 2022. The 2022 team earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
Hammond played one season for James Wood. In the 2021 season — which was shortened to 10 regular-season games — Hammond had 24 goals and 14 assists for a Colonels team that went 15-1 and captured the only region title in program history.
