FRONT ROYAL — Andrew Thorne and Terrell Matthews just needed a hint of eye contact.

As Skyline adjusted to James Wood’s zone defense, spreading the court at coach Sonny Dyke’s will, Thorne — stationed in the right corner — and Matthews — on a wing — connected.

The ensuing play — not a designed alley-oop, but a deviation within a scripted offensive set — had been perfected previously in games and in practice.
