Area softball teams ready to swing away

WINCHESTER — Defending champion Brentsville appears to be the preseason favorite in the Northwestern District, but Sherando and some other local high school softball teams hope to give the Tigers some competition this year.

The Colonels’ lineup gets a major makeover, but Amanda Morrison, who posted 10 wins with 91 Ks and a 3.85 ERA, gives the team an experienced No. 1 pitcher.

“We’re completely re-doing the entire team,” McDaniel said. “We’ll be a little behind everybody to begin with. If we can turn it on in the second half of the season we’ll be OK.”
