What do you love about golf?: I love that it’s up to you on how good you want to be, because you’re playing your own ball, you’re playing your own game. So if you put in the hard work, it’ll pay off. You’re not relying on a team to take you as far as you want to go.
Most memorable moment in golf: It was actually recently, I completed in the Curly Licklider Tournament for the first time. The thing that stood out the most was my eagle, as it was the first one I’d ever hit and it doesn’t happen very often.
Most embarrassing moment in golf: I topped my drive off the first tee at South Wales Golf Course [in Jeffersonton]. I just didn’t hit a good shot.
Most difficult moment in golf: The first hole of any round, because it sets the tone for how you play the rest of the day.
Three people you can have dinner with, dead or alive: Adam Sandler and Will Smith; they’re really funny guys. And [New York Giants quarterback] Jameis Winston, he’s real inspirational.
Biggest athletic influence: Definitely my dad. He’s been playing golf for really his whole life, over 50 years. He’s always there to give me a hand and give me some encouragement.
Favorite teacher: Miss Jenkins. She was my eighth-grade English teacher at Frederick County [Middle School]. She always gave me a push, which I needed.
Favorite athlete: New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr.
Favorite team: Baltimore Orioles
Favorite movie: “Moneyball”
Favorite TV show: “Suits”
Favorite song: “Take My Breath” by The Weeknd
Favorite food: Mashed potatoes
Worst thing you’ve eaten: Broccoli
Plans after high school: Study business management at a four-year university. I want to study business management because I want to pursue a career in sports management.
