Sport: Soccer. Position: Midfield

What do you love about soccer?: How competitive the sport is, and the strong sense of community among the team.
Most memorable moments in soccer: Going to the state tournament last year, and being the first [Winchester-Frederick County] team to win a state tournament game [by beating Woodgrove]. And then beating Hanover in penalty kicks to get to the state final. Our mindset and our saying around our team is, ‘Whatever it takes.’ We all wanted to get farther in the tournament, and we knew we had what it took to do so.
Most embarrassing moment in soccer: I went to head a ball against Liberty one time last year, and instead of hitting the top of my head, the ball hit me right in the nose. I got a bloody nose and I had to be subbed out.
Most difficult moment in soccer: Last year in the state game against Hanover, I sprained my ankle near the end of the game. I just kind of felt bad because I wasn’t able to be there for my team the rest of that game and in the state final.
Three people you can have dinner with, dead or alive: My grandfather Murrell Bolliger who passed away a few years ago; he played basketball at [West Virginia University] and was a well-traveled person. (Bolliger first played for Shenandoah University on its Dayton campus before enrolling at WVU. Bolliger was inducted into SU’s Hall of Fame in 2009.) For a lot of my childhood, he had Alzheimer’s, so I would really like to talk to him and here about his stories growing up. Olivia Rodrigo; she’s one of my favorite singers. And [actor] Adam Sandler; he seems really down to earth and super funny.
Biggest athletic influence: My dad. He’s been one of my biggest supporters by driving me to all my practices and games. He’s always there to talk to me about how to improve as a player. He’s always been there to help me succeed.
Favorite teacher: My third-grade teacher at Stonewall Elementary School. Her name is now Mrs. [Katelyn] Dubyck. I just remember having so much fun in that class and how nice she was.
Favorite athlete: (Former U.S. women’s soccer player) Julie Ertz
Favorite sports team: Washington Commanders
Favorite movie: “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”
Favorite TV show: “Gossip Girl”
Favorite song: “Springsteen” by Eric Church
Favorite food: Salmon. I like it when my dad grills it.
Worst thing you’ve eaten: Asparagus
Plans after high school: I plan on going to [James Madison University] to major in biology. And then I hope to eventually go into some area of the medical field. I’m not 100 percent on what specific area yet, but I just really enjoy learning about the human body. I think it’s really interesting.
