James Wood High School 17-year-old senior

Sport: Swimming. Main events: 50 free and 100 breast
Parents: Christine and Shep Stacy
Hometown: Charlottesville
What do you love about swimming?: I just love the community and how it kind of brings a lot of people together, and you make a lot of new friends on your team — people that you probably wouldn’t normally talk to if you hadn’t done the sport.
Most memorable moment in swimming: Probably all of our holiday parties. I think those are really memorable because you get to hang out with your whole team, and it’s just really fun.
Most embarrassing moment in swimming: I false started in one of my races over the summer, and it was really embarrassing.
Most difficult moment in swimming: Being injured. You get an injury, and you have to overcome that injury and you’re not able to swim as properly as you could.
Three people you can have dinner with, dead or alive: [Singer] Noah Kahan because he is one of my favorite singers; Dylan O’Brien because he’s one of my favorite actors; and Megan Moroney because she’s also one of my favorite country singers.
Biggest athletic influence?: Probably just my family in general, because they really pushed me to be the best at my sport and just to be motivated to do it.
Favorite teacher: [James Wood math teacher] Mr. [Arthur] Madeoy. He is just a really good teacher and is really helpful in my schoolwork and makes me stay on top of all my schoolwork.
Favorite athlete: Michael Phelps
Favorite sports team: I don’t really have a favorite sports team, but my whole family kind of roots for the Baltimore Ravens.
Favorite movie: “The Empire Strikes Back”
Favorite TV show: “Supernatural”
Favorite song: “What A Man Gotta Do” by the Jonas Brothers
Favorite food: Hamburgers
Worst thing you’ve eaten: I’d probably say cheese. I just think it tastes really gross and it smells gross.
Plans after high school: I hope to go to a four-year college and study animal science and pre-vet medicine. I’ve been around animals a lot of my life, and I’ve just always liked caring for them.
