BEALETON — Chandler Brooks hit a driving layup at the end of regulation to tie the score, then nailed a 3-pointer at the end of overtime to give James Wood a thrilling victory over Liberty on Tuesday.

Getting the ball with nine seconds left in regulation, Brooks went coast-to-coast and scored on a layup at the buzzer to tie the contest at 58-58.

Trailing 64-62 with 2.3 seconds left in overtime, the Colonels passed the ball in to Robert Jackson, who got it to Brooks, who launched a 26-foot bomb. The horn sounded while the shot was in the air and it swished through the net for the game-winner.

Brooks had a game-high 27 points, while adding six rebounds and eight assists for the Colonels (6-2). Andrew Hinebaugh netted 15 points. Jackson had eight points and eight boards, while Colin Watts dished out 11 assists.

David Milton had 21 pioints for Liberty.
