WINCHESTER- The James Wood girls’ basketball team kicked off its season with a 53-46 win over visiting Musselman (W.Va.) Friday evening.
James Wood (1-0) trailed by two at halftime but took a 34-31 lead into the fourth quarter and held on.
Danielle Rizzari led the way with a team-high 18 points, thanks largely to a 9-for-9 showing at the free-throw line, and Miranda Moore chipped in with 13 points in the victory.
The Colonels next travel to take on Clarke County in a non-district game at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
