WINCHESTER — Heather Armel had trouble sleeping Friday night. After a disappointing loss to Millbrook, in which she only took six shots in the game, the James Wood junior was determined not to suffer the same fate Saturday against Handley.

“[The loss to Millbrook] was still in the back of my mind when I went to sleep. I told myself [Saturday] is going to be a different day,” Armel said. “I knew I had to step up for my teammates.”

Armel stepped up in a big way in the fourth quarter to lead the Colonels to a 63-56 Northwestern District victory over the Judges.

Armel scored 16 of her career-high 33 points in the final eight minutes, including going 12-for-13 from the foul line.
