CROSS COUNTRY – Wood girls win meet at Central

WOODSTOCK — James Wood freshman Kenzie Konyar took first place to lead the Colonels to the team title at a three-team meet at Central High School on Wednesday afternoon.

Konyar won with a time of 20 minutes, 53 seconds on Central’s three-mile course. Seniors Autumn Hottle (fourth, 20:59), Maria Harter (fifth, 21:12), Claire Bright (sixth, 21:36) and Lydia Sunderlin (seventh, 22:00) completed Wood’s scoring.

The Colonel girls won the meet with 23 points. Strasburg (47) was the runner-up, and Central (64) followed in third.

In the boys’ quad meet, James Wood senior Max Lindquist took first place in 16:44 to pace the Colonels to second place.

Central took the team title with 26 points, edging Wood (29) by three. Strasburg (76) took third, and Massanutten Military Academy (120) placed fourth.

Junior Kevin Konyar (fifth, 17:27), sophomore Ethan Pierce (sixth, 17:28), sophomore Josh Arce (eighth, 17:55) and junior Jacksen Costa (ninth, 17:59) rounded out Wood’s scoring five.
