Swimming: City-County Meet

WINCHESTER — Sherando won both the boys’ and girls’ competitions at Saturday’s City-County meet at Jim Barnett Park’s War Memorial Building.

In the boys’ meet, Sherando scored 162 points, Millbrook was second with 148, James Wood was third with 100, and Handley was fourth with 87.

In the girls’ meet, Sherando was first with 144 points, James Wood was second with 140, Millbrook was third with 134 and Handley was fourth with 94.

The Sherando boys received wins from James Williams in the 100-meter freestyle (1 minute, 0.79 seconds) and the foursome of Mark Restrepo, Tommy McVey, Ethan Medrano and Williams in the 200 free relay (1:48.91) and the 400 free relay (4:08.48).

The Millbrook boys received wins from Alex Morrow in the 400 free (4:42.08) and 100 backstroke (1:10.11), and Morrow teamed with Danny Hollingsworth, Chris Patton and Mark Paxton to win the 200 medley relay in 2:10.50.

The James Wood boys received two individual wins each from Brian Baker (200 free in 2:11.20 and 100 breaststroke in 1:16.75) and Conor Babington (50 free in 26.05 and 100 butterfly in 1:05.91).

Handley’s one boys’ win came from William Yuan in the 200 individual medley (2:41.63).

The Sherando girls received wins from Kelsey Dingman in the 50 free (30.02) and the 100 free (1:04.52), and Dingman teamed up with Laura Ferguson, Victoria Reese and Brenna Sharp to win the 200 free relay in 2:05.76.

The James Wood girls received wins from Sara Fergus in the 200 free (a state time of 2:04.09) and and 400 free (5:31.88), Zoe Schopick in the 100 fly (1:14.03) and Erin Jackson in the 100 backstroke (1:13.75).

The Millbrook girls received wins from Abbey Esslinger in the 200 IM (2:46.79), and she teamed with Abby McClellan, Emily Lowman and Lindsay Fairbanks to win the 200 medley relay (2:19.92) and Lowman, Fairbanks and Sarah Jeffries to win the 400 free relay (4:44.37).

Handley received its one girls’ win from Liz Grove (100 breast in 1:25.80).
