District Mini XC Meet

WINCHESTER — The Sherando boys and Millbrook girls were each victorious at Wednesday’s six-team Northwestern District cross country mini meet at the Third Battle of Winchester Battlefield course.

The Warrior boys scored 50 points to win by 11 over runner-up Handley (61), which was led by individual champion Noah Meleason. The junior won by 1.74 seconds in a 3.1-mile time of 19:02.76.

Sherando was led by senior Hatcher Smith (third, 19:14.93); junior Austyn Zeis (sixth, 19:48.92); junior Gavin Flynn (10th, 20:15.12); freshman Andrew Schaefer (13th, 20:52.31) and freshman William Norris (18th, 21:08.59).

Millbrook (third on a tiebreaker with 83 points), Warren County (83), James Wood (101) and Skyline (137) rounded out the boys’ field.

The Pioneer girls scored 55 points to win by one point over Handley (56). The Judges were followed by Warren County (79), James Wood (89), Sherando (97) and Skyline (144).

Millbrook was led by sophomore Harper Weiss (fifth, 24:09.30); sophomore Marisol Lara (sixth, 24:13.50); senior Caydence Bayne (ninth, 24:35.51); sophomore Adilyn Steinmetz (15th, 25:02.68); and sophomore Aubrey Steinmetz (20th, 26:06.45).

Colonels senior Alina Kieffer won individually by 53.25 seconds with a time of 22:18.79.
