GIRLS’ TRACK AND FIELD – Colonels win tri meet

WINCHESTER — Rene Rosso won three individual events to lead James Wood to a tri-meet win over Sherando and Fauquier on Wednesday at Kelican Stadium.

The Colonels scored 150 points, Sherando had 34 and Fauquier had eight.

Rosso won the 100 (13.2), 200 (26.8) and high jump (4-10) and she also teamed with Jenny Kerns, Kara Norman and Jamie Marcy to win the 4×100 in 51.8.

James Wood’s other winners were Hannah Cavanagh (shot put, 34-9.5, and discus, 105-9), Rhiannon Bradford (400, 1:05.6), Maria Harter (800, 2:43.3), Autumn Hottle (1,600, 5:58.3), Lydia Sunderlin (3,200, 14:47.0), Gabbie Groundwater (100 hurdles, 17.9), Dy’Avean Sloane (300 hurdles, 48.8), Marcy (long jump, 14-7), Eliana Creech (triple jump, 31-6.25), the 4×400 team (Kiara Gilkerson, Sarah Solomon, Eliana Creech, Bradford) in 4:36.0 and the 4×800 team (Hottle, Sophia Dorsey, Cleo Yeatras, Harter) in 10:55.9.

Sherando was led by two second-place finishes by Kaitlyn Roberts (100 in 13.3, 200 in 27.5).
