James Wood’s Rosenberry, Baker receive district softball honors

5cd9b0deee28d.imageJames Wood pitcher Ivy Rosenberry and coach Todd Baker received top honors and Sherando garnered six First Team selections as the Class 4 Northwestern District softball teams were announced on Wednesday.

The honorees were selected in voting by the district coaches.

Rosenberry, a junior right-hander who helped lead the Colonels to the district regular-season title, earned Player of the Year honors. Baker was selected as Coach of the Year. Senior outfielder Mackenzie McCarty was James Wood’s other representative on the First Team.

Sherando dominated the First Team picks with freshman Isabel Hall (first base), junior Sierra Strosnider (shortstop), junior Veronika Lord (catcher), junior Blake Conner (outfield), senior Brooke Moses (outfield) and junior Lauren Smith (dp/flex) receiving nods.

Handley senior Meghan Stokes (utility) was also a First Team pick.

Sherando had two more Second Team selections: senior Sarah Rhinehardt (outfield) and Smith (pitcher).

James Wood also had two Second Team picks: senior Rebecca Boone (catcher) and senior Hannah Davis (third base).

Millbrook senior Sophie Pell (utility) earned a Second Team spot.
