SOUTH BOSTON- Sergio Pena raced to the checkered flag for his first career victory in the NASCAR’s K&N Pro Series East South Boston 150 at South Boston Speedway on Sunday.
Pena, a James Wood High School senior, won by 1.055 seconds over runner-up Matt DiBenedetto.
He took the lead on lap 141 and held on from there to top a field of 30 cars.
Max Gresham, Coleman Pressley, and Ryan Gifford completed the top five.
With the victory, Pena now leads the K&N Pro Series East points standings. He holds a one-point lead over Pressley.
Pena races for Revolution Racing as part of the Drive for Diversity program for the second straight year.
Sunday’s South Boston 150 will be televised on SPEED at 6 p.m. on May 12. The K&N Pro Series East’s next race will be the Blue Ox 100 on April 28 in Richmond.
