Handley senior Emeryce Worrell was named the Player of Year and the Judges’ Mike Danielson was named the Coach of the Year to highlight the All-Region 4D girls’ soccer selections.
Worrell led the area with 42 goals this year and also had five assists. Worrell and Danielson, a first-year head coach, led Handley to a 14-4-2 record and the Judges’ first-ever region title and first-ever state tournament berth. The Judges lost to Woodgrove 4-2 in the state quarterfinals. The Wolverines went on to lose 1-0 in Loudoun County in the Class 4 state championship game.
Joining Worrell on the First Team are Handley junior midfielder Mia Hudson; James Wood senior forward Maddie Shirley and junior defender Avery Wright; Sherando senior defender McKenna Hardy; and Millbrook senior midfielder Molly Ludwig.
Second Team selections include Handley junior midfielder Stephanie Truban, sophomore defender Reese Craig and junior defender Audrey DeArment; James Wood senior midfielder Sloane Ferrebee and junior midfielder Meadow Falkner; and Sherando senior midfielder Sophia Straightiff.
Honorable Mention selections include goalkeepers Olivia Jett (Handley senior), Rhys Neff (Sherando senior) and Alaynah McGuire (James Wood sophomore).
