The first regular-season football matchup between James Wood and Clarke County since 2008 is one of the highlights of the Virginia High School League master football schedule released on Tuesday.
The Colonels and Eagles will open their seasons against each other on Aug. 29 at Clarke County’s Wilbur M. Feltner Stadium. That will be the first of six home games for the Eagles, who will be the only local team without an even split of five home games and five road games.
Sherando — last year’s Region 4D champions — will open the season before any other local team on Aug. 28. The Warriors will host Amherst County on a Thursday.
