HAGERSTOWN, Md. — The James Wood High School girls’ swimming team swept a non-district meet against Hedgesville (W.Va.)and St. Maria Goretti (Md.) at the Hagerstown YMCA.
The Colonels (4-2) defeated Hedgesville 86-83 and Goretti 103-66.
Emalee Firestein won both the 200-yard freestyle (2:10.56) and 500 free (5:46.29). Alex Lew won the 50 free (26.75) and the 100 free with a state-qualifying time of 58.52. And Kaye Whitacre won the 200 IM (2:28.36) and 100 breaststroke (1:15.09).
James Wood’s boys’ team (2-4) lost to Hedgesville 86-82 and Goretti 103-66.
Greg Anderson won the 100 backstroke in 1:04.46, and Chad Schott was first in the 100 breast (1:15.53) to lead the boys.
