Shenandoah University freshman and 2024 James Wood graduate Cadence Rieg was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s softball Player of the Week on Monday.
Rieg helped the Hornets go 2-2 over the weekend. Over the Hornets’ four games, Rieg went 7 for 13 at the plate with two doubles, four runs and three RBIs.
The right-handed freshman earned the win in the circle in SU’s 3-2 win over Juniata on Saturday, pitching 5.0 innings with two strikeouts. Rieg also pitched 4.2 innings and had five strikeouts in SU’s 8-6 loss to Misericordia on Sunday.
As a Colonel last spring, Rieg went 7-1 with a 1.85 ERA as the team’s lead pitcher. She also batted .444, led the area by scoring 35 runs and was named The Winchester Star’s Softball Player of the Year.
